This story is a powerful testament to resilience and hope. It narrates the journey of Harsh Gupta, who battled acute pancreatitis, a condition that tested his physical and mental endurance, as well as his family’s strength.
It begins in August 2017 when Harsh, then a college student, experienced severe abdominal pain. Initially dismissed as gas or stress-related, medical tests revealed he had acute pancreatitis. Over the years, Harsh faced recurring episodes of pain, hospitalization, and treatments, each time hoping for recovery. Despite these struggles, life seemed to regain normalcy until 2022, when things took a drastic turn.
During a trip to Indonesia for the G20 Summit, Harsh experienced another severe episode. Determined to return to India for treatment, he endured an excruciating journey, including a layover in Bangkok, relying on painkillers and sheer willpower to make it back. Upon reaching Bengaluru, he was rushed to a hospital, where his condition worsened. His family, torn between hope and fear, watched helplessly as his health declined.
Multiple hospitalizations, surgeries, and treatments followed. At one point, Harsh’s weight dropped from 86 kg to 60 kg, and he began losing the will to continue. The family explored every possible avenue, eventually learning about a place called Padaav in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. Known for its holistic approach to treating chronic illnesses, Padaav became their ray of hope.
At Padaav, Harsh found not just medical care but also mental and emotional support. The structured routine, transparent treatment process, and understanding caregivers played a crucial role in his recovery. For the first time in months, he could eat properly and began to regain his strength and confidence.
After over a year of treatment, Harsh is now fully recovered. He plays badminton, goes to work, and shares his story to inspire others. Reflecting on his journey, he highlights the stark contrast between private hospitals, where hope often seemed absent, and Padaav, where holistic care and encouragement gave him a new lease on life.
His message is clear: no matter how tough the journey, with the right support, treatment, and determination, recovery is possible. Giving up is not an option.
